Tap Into Your Individual Superpower
Natalia Nicholson Google-Certified Digital Marketing Coach Founder of Women in Digital Business
Last week, we told the stories of those who came before, who have contributed to shaping the tech landscape as we know it now. And who we can identify with because...they are black women like us.
Today let’s look at the superwomen who are currently in the business of innovating and inspiring. These are women who remind us everyday, that there is no limit to what we can become if we tap into our individual superpowers
Jasmine Crowe: Ever heard of Goodr? Meet Jasmine, the brain behind the brand. Goodr is a tech enabled food waste management company using technology to provide more than 2 million food items to people in dire need. "End world hunger" is a slogan chanted by people around the world, many of them with genuine intentions. But here's someone who not just thought or talked about it, but actually did something. What a hero!
Julia Collins: Another superwoman who has built impressive food companies and restaurant chains successfully. Julia birthed Planet FWD, a platform that helps organizations assess their climate impact and implement strategies to reduce their carbon footprint, creating a greener future for all. Her innovation is literally playing a huge role in saving the planet, one company at a time!
Annie Jean Baptiste: Meet the face behind the latest trend of diversity and inclusivity in Google. Annie is really making a difference where it is necessary. As the head of Product Inclusion and Equity at Google, she has implemented digital practices that make sure to reflect the true diversity of the human consumers these products are built for. I mean, we all love how emojis now reflect our skin tone.
Book of the Week
Curious about the big inclusivity moves of Annie at Google, add her book "Building for Everyone" to your reading list. In this book, she stresses the importance of business being intentional about inclusive design and products. She also gives actual business advice and strategies which she herself has used, and which anyone who is particular about inclusive design, would find pretty useful.
Video of the week
Here, another of our superwomen shares insights from her work. "What we're getting wrong in the fight to end hunger" will inspire you as Jasmine Crowe tells the story of how she came up with a very effective solution to food waste and food insecurity. It is a reminder that our dreams and goals are not just for us, but are also meant to serve communities. So start using your superpower to change lives today!
