She was homeless at age 34 and now...🙌🏽

Have you ever felt so broke or trapped in a tough spot that you questioned if you even had the right to dream anymore?
Today’s spotlight woman refused to let such limitations hold her back.
I hope you are inspired by her story:
Arlan Hamilton:
Once homeless, at 34 years old, with no college degree and minimal investment knowledge, she dared to dream and stayed open and hungry to learn. Now, she’s built a venture capital firm dedicated to giving startups led by women and queer people a fighting chance in a world that often overlooks them.
When Arlan Hamilton first began exploring the venture capital world, she quickly noticed a staggering fact: over 90% of VC funding goes to white men. As a gay Black woman, she couldn’t ignore the talent that was left untapped simply because no one else would take a chance on them. So, Arlan set out on a mission, consuming every book and resource she could find to educate herself. Her dedication paid off. Five years later, she received a $25,000 check that kickstarted her investing career.
Today, Arlan’s firm has invested millions of dollars in startups, specializing in giving Black women and queer founders the opportunities they deserve—opportunities the world is still learning to offer. Her journey is one of courage, resilience, and an unstoppable drive to make a difference.
Question for you:
What dream have you been holding back on that deserves a chance to grow? What small step can you take today to make it a reality?

Video of the week
If you've been struggling to be taken seriously and sometimes underestimate yourself, here’s a video that might resonate: A 3-Step Guide to Believing in Yourself by Sheryl Lee Ralph. In her TED Talk, Sheryl shares the story behind her success and inspires you to find the resilience to achieve your own.
And guess what? I share similar roots with Sheryl as this Emmy award-winning black woman's mum is a Jamaican. Watch it now!

Affirmation of the Week
Let me leave you with a powerful affirmation inspired by Oprah Winfrey to repeat anytime self-doubt creeps in:
"I have the power to step out of the history holding me back and into the new story I am willing to create."
Ready to turn your dreams into Action?
Have a great week ahead!
Natalia.
