7 Effective Ways to Make Your First Online Sale

7 Effective Ways to Make Your First Online Sale

Anyone who is a newcomer to the world of e-commerce needs to find an effective way of making their very first online business sale. If you haven’t yet reached this turning point in your entrepreneurial journey, don’t worry. Here, you’ll find seven effective ways of making that all-important initial first step.

1.  Involve Influencers

There are lots of influencers out there whose platforms you can harness to widen your reach. Look for people with influence in your industry and reach out to them asking if they’d like to try your product then mention it in their tweets, videos, or blogs. Send emails and offer free samples in return for their endorsement. While some will say no, others may well say yes, so it’s certainly worth a try.

2. Write A Blog

Whatever you’re selling, you must have a blog. Each time you create and publish fresh content, you’re opening more doors to your e-commerce store. Also, you’re boosting your rankings on the search engines which, in turn, drives up traffic to your site.

3. Sell Through Many Channels

It’s normal to begin selling products on several channels when you launch your online business. If your own online store isn’t attracting enough attention, try other online channels like Etsy, eBay or Amazon. These marketplaces will do all the promotion on your behalf and selling through many ecommerce venues is likely to precipitate your first sale rapidly.

4. Send Out Newsletters

Newsletters keep your subscribers and customers up to date with the latest offers and news from your online store. It will also keep your company at the forefront of your audience’s mind.

5. Offering Coupon Codes And Discounts

Giving customers coupons and discount codes will help to promote sales. However, avoid overdoing this. Set yourself a threshold of around 10% discount for each customer with an order total over a set amount. Free shipping deals are also useful and can entice visitors to make a purchase.

6. Focus On SEOs

If your e-commerce site is full of relevant keywords you can boost your SEO. Ensuring your website is ranked for relevant keywords is vital for bringing traffic in via search engines such as Google. People searching for those keywords end up at your store and will probably buy a product. It’ll also help your business to get discovered by more people.

7. Create Product Videos

If you’re able to make engaging videos showcasing your products, sales will rapidly follow. You can build up an audience of viewers who can then be targeted through adverts later.
